Agate Beach Park

Located 25 miles southwest of Houghton in Stanton Township, Agate Beach Park offers public boat launch access to Lake Superior's sandy shores. The launch is notably long and steep, making it suitable for motorboats and larger vessels; paddlers should be prepared for the grade when launching or retrieving. The site features ample parking for truck-and-trailer combinations near the main launch area, along with basic facilities including rustic toilets and picnic tables.

This seasonal facility (open Memorial Day through Labor Day) is popular with both anglers and recreational boaters seeking access to over a mile of white sand beach. Paddlers should note that Lake Superior conditions can be challenging; always check weather and water conditions before launching. The park area is known for agate hunting along the beach, making it a good destination for those combining paddling with exploration. Leashed pets are permitted on-site.
