Located on scenic State Road A1A in Jacksonville, the Alimicani Unimproved Ramp provides public access to the Fort George River and its tributaries. This soft sand launch is well-suited for kayaks, canoes, and small jon boats, making it an affordable option for paddlers exploring this scenic waterway. The ramp is situated within the Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve, one of the last unspoiled coastal wetland areas on the Atlantic Coast, offering paddlers the chance to experience over 6,000 years of human history while navigating salt marshes and natural waterways.
The ramp is unimproved and not ADA accessible, so paddlers should be prepared to hand-launch or use lightweight watercraft. There are no docks, fixed structures, or amenities at the launching area, and the facility operates without fees. The nearby Fort Caroline National Memorial and Timucuan Preserve Visitor Center provide excellent historical context and information about the area's cultural significance before or after your paddle.
