About This Access Site
Plover Pit is a 67-acre fishing pond located within the Driftwood State Fishing Area near Edinburgh in Bartholomew County. The site features two concrete boat ramps on the west shore, providing reliable access for kayakers, canoeists, and larger boats. With a maximum depth of 31 feet, the pit supports a healthy population of bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, and tiger muskellunge, making it popular with anglers year-round.

The Driftwood area encompasses 260 acres with multiple connected water bodies—Plover Pit connects to Sandpiper Pit (17 acres), and Meadowlark Pit offers additional gravel ramp access nearby. The concrete ramps at Plover Pit provide solid launching conditions, making this a straightforward access point for recreational paddling and fishing. Shoreline fishing access is available throughout the area, which is managed by Indiana's Division of Fish & Wildlife as part of the Camp Atterbury property.

For current information on hours of operation, seasonal access restrictions, parking availability, and any applicable fees, contact the Indiana DNR's Division of Fish & Wildlife or visit their website.
