The Balls Ferry Fishing Access provides a public boat ramp on the Sacramento River near the city of Anderson, California. This section of the Sacramento River is a major river system, spanning over 400 miles and draining a vast watershed. With an average flow of nearly 39,000 cubic feet per second and a steep gradient, boaters and paddlers should exercise caution.
The boat ramp is accessible by taking Balls Ferry Road off Deschutes Road. Additional river access points are available in the area, including Barge Hole, Jelly's Ferry, and the Lake Red Bluff Recreation Area. The 33-mile stretch of the Sacramento River between Balls Ferry and Red Bluff is popular for salmon and steelhead fishing, offering opportunities for both motorized and non-motorized watercraft. Paddlers and anglers should be prepared for the river's strong current and large size when launching from this site.
