Bayou Sorrel offers a well-maintained public boat launch in Iberville Parish that serves as an excellent gateway to the Atchafalaya Basin. The recently improved facility features a concrete launch ramp on the north end, ADA-accessible parking, and a relocated floating pier, making it convenient for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters of all abilities. To reach the access point, turn left onto Bayou Sorrell Road from Highway 75 and follow it to the first gravel road crossing the levee on the right.
From this launch, paddlers can access a network of waterways including Murphy Lake, Upper Grand River, and connections to the Intracoastal Waterway, opening up extensive exploration opportunities throughout the Atchafalaya Basin interior. The area is also known for good fishing opportunities, including spillway crawfish. The facility's improved infrastructure and strategic location make it a solid choice for those planning extended paddling trips or day excursions into the basin.
