About This Access Site
The Leonville boat ramp provides convenient access to Bayou Teche, a scenic paddling route in south-central Louisiana. Located in St. Landry Parish, this launch point is ideal for kayakers and canoeists exploring the bayou's calm waters and natural surroundings. To reach the ramp from I-90, take Exit 668 onto LA 671, then turn left on Highway 182 (Main Street). Travel 0.5 miles and turn right onto Wormser Street, then left onto Tarleton to reach the boat ramp.

Bayou Teche offers a peaceful paddling experience through Louisiana's characteristic bottomland landscape. Paddlers can explore multiple access points along the bayou, including an unofficial paddle trail access at Bayou Teche Brewing in nearby Arnaudville (open to the public). The waterway connects to the larger Atchafalaya Basin system, which encompasses 595,000 acres of the largest contiguous bottomland hardwood forest in the United States, offering opportunities for day trips and longer paddling adventures.

This is a boat-in-only paddle trail, so plan accordingly. Water conditions can vary seasonally, so check current conditions before paddling. The area is popular with both kayakers and canoeists, and the gentle waters make it suitable for paddlers of varying skill levels.
