Bird Island

Bird Island Basin Boat Ramp provides convenient access to the shallow waters of Laguna Madre near Corpus Christi. The facility features a paved boat ramp with an adjacent dock, a dedicated gravel launch area for kayaks and canoes, and a small pier. Vault toilets are available near the parking area, though parking is limited—arriving early, especially on weekends, is recommended. A day-use fee applies to access the site.

This popular launch point serves as a hub for paddling, fishing, boating, birding, and windsurfing on the Laguna Madre. The calm, shallow bay waters make it accessible for paddlers of varying skill levels. The area gets busy in early mornings as anglers head out for fishing in Laguna Madre and Baffin Bay. If you plan to camp, Bird Island Basin Campground offers 45 RV and tent sites nearby, with additional day-use areas available throughout the facility.

Bird Island Basin lies along Laguna Madre with easy access for fishing, birding, windsurfing, and kayaking. There are 35 RV and tent sites and 10 additional tent-only sites. All sites are side by side on gravel. The tent-only sites are walk up to a sand flat. This area is also for day use activities. Vault toilets are available at the north and south ends with day use areas in between.
