Bittern Lake #2 offers a public boat ramp providing access to waters within the Peabody Wildlife Management Area near Paradise in Muhlenberg County. The ramp is located downstream of newer WMA tracts and serves kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters looking to explore this scenic wildlife area. Parking is available in designated areas and along maintained roads, though space is limited—be sure not to block gates or access roads.
The area is notable for its rich wildlife habitat, with bald eagles nesting nearby and sloughs and wetlands that attract waterfowl throughout the year. The nearby Pond River experiences a white bass run around early April, making it a popular destination for anglers. Visitors should note that this is an active wildlife management area with hunting seasons, so plan your visit accordingly and be aware of seasonal restrictions—hunters cannot discharge firearms within 100 yards of the boat ramp.
To reach Bittern Lake #2 from Greenville, take KY-176 east to the Peabody WMA entrance and follow the WMA directional signs to the individual lakes. Before launching, check current water conditions and any seasonal access restrictions with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.
