About This Access Site
Located on the west shore of Blackhawk Lake near Cobb in Iowa County, this is an excellent public access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. The recreation area operates as a day-use and camping facility with a ranger station entrance where visitors must obtain a vehicle pass (daily or seasonal fee required). The facility includes a dedicated boat ramp, docks, and waterfront amenities designed to accommodate various water recreation needs.

Blackhawk Lake itself is a 223-acre lake where motorized boating is permitted. The recreation area provides a well-maintained launch point that most paddlers prefer over alternative access points in the area, making it a reliable choice for starting your water adventure. The surrounding 1,500-acre recreation area offers additional amenities including a supervised beach, fishing opportunities, hiking trails, and extensive camping options (135 standard campsites plus 11 group sites) if you're planning an extended visit.
