Blacktail Park offers one of only two public access points to Ririe Reservoir near Ammon, Idaho. The facility features a boat ramp and dock suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats onto the reservoir. The park also provides day-use amenities including restrooms, a swimming area, and a visitor center, making it a convenient base for water-based recreation.
The reservoir is stocked annually with rainbow trout and offers good fishing opportunities. A minimum flow of 25 cubic feet per second is maintained in Willow Creek downstream, supporting stream fishing habitat as well. From Blacktail Park, paddlers can access two additional boat-access-only parks—Benchland Park and Willow Point Park—located on the reservoir between here and Juniper Campground, the other primary public access area. Kelly Island Campground is located within 10 miles for those seeking overnight accommodations.
The area offers additional outdoor recreation nearby, including the scenic Cress Creek Nature Trail along the South Fork of the Snake River and access to Caribou-Targhee National Forest, providing paddlers with opportunities to explore both water and land-based activities in the region.
