About This Access Site
Located near Ely in St. Louis County, this public boat launch provides access to Blueberry Lake, a 49-acre lake with a maximum depth of 14 feet. The site offers a straightforward entry point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters looking to explore this scenic northeastern Minnesota water body. The relatively shallow depth makes it suitable for paddlers of various skill levels.

The access site is situated in an area with backcountry camping opportunities nearby. Birch Lake Campground is available within 10 miles if you're planning an overnight paddle trip. First-come, first-served backcountry campsites accessible by boat are available in the region, making this a good launching point for extended paddling adventures in the Superior National Forest area. Remember to follow Leave No Trace principles—including hanging food packs and treating all drinking water—if you're planning to camp.
