Brazos River Overlook (FM 2004)

The FM 2004 boat ramp offers convenient access to Buffalo Camp Bayou near Lake Jackson in Brazoria County. This concrete ramp features a lighted launch area and a large parking lot, making it a straightforward option for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The facility is located off FM 2004 and provides a developed alternative to more primitive launching points in the area.

This access point serves as a gateway to exploring the lower Brazos River region, with proximity to two major protected areas: San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge and Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge. These refuges encompass over 45,000 acres combined and offer excellent paddling opportunities through salt marsh, coastal prairies, and freshwater lakes—particularly notable during waterfowl season. Paddlers should be prepared for tidal influences in this coastal bayou system and plan accordingly for water level changes.
