About This Access Site
Buckhorn Creek offers a well-maintained two-lane boat ramp within Buckhorn Creek Park on Lake O' the Pines, a massive 18,700-acre reservoir spanning five counties in Northeast Texas. The facility includes a courtesy dock for passenger loading and unloading, making it convenient for launching kayaks and canoes. Restrooms with shower facilities and a playground are available within the park. Note that this is primarily a campground facility with gate hours 10am-6pm Monday-Saturday and 12pm-6pm Sunday (903-665-8261).

Located near Jefferson, TX via FM 726 (2669 FM 726, Jefferson, TX 75657), this access point is ideal for exploring the expansive lake's boating, fishing, and water sports opportunities. Paddlers should be aware that the ramp area has no wind protection, and conditions can vary considerably given the lake's large size. The nearby Alley Creek and Johnson Creek campgrounds offer additional accommodation options within 10 miles if you're planning an extended visit to this scenic piney woods region.

Natural Features
Lake O' the Pines includes about 18,700 acres of water and 9,000 acres of land, encompassing an area so large it spans five counties.

The lake was created by the construction of the Ferrell's Bridge Dam on the Big Cypress Bayou. The reservoir was originally created as part of the overall plan for flood control in the Red River Basin below Denison Dam in Oklahoma, and has now become a recreational oasis for outdoor enthusiasts.
Nearby Attractions
The nearby towns of Jefferson and Marshall offer plenty of historic and tourist attractions, and Texas Wildflower Trail routes are located along the roads surrounding the lake.
