About This Access Site
Located off Route 77 in South Portland next to the historic Bug Light lighthouse, this municipal facility offers excellent access to the Fore River, Portland Harbor, and Casco Bay. The all-tide ramp features twin paved cement launches, making it suitable for paddlers and motorboats regardless of water level. A floating tie-up dock is available for convenience, and the site includes ample parking and restroom facilities.

This is a popular launch point for kayakers and canoeists heading into Portland Harbor and surrounding waters. The protected western shorelines of the Fore River offer good conditions, especially for those seeking shelter from summer southwesterlies and ocean swells. The proximity to Spring Point and open water makes this an ideal starting point for both casual day paddles and longer coastal explorations. Note that a launch fee applies, and the park itself is well-maintained with scenic views and walking areas around the lighthouse.
