Bull Frog Marina, located on Johnson Creek along the north shore of Lake O' the Pines in Avinger, offers a convenient boat launch for paddlers and boaters. The facility features a well-maintained boat ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorized vessels. The marina provides covered boat storage and serves as a good jumping-off point for exploring the expansive 18,700-acre lake nestled in Northeast Texas's piney woods.
To reach the ramp from Jefferson, take Texas 49 west to FM 729, then go 3.4 miles and turn left on FM 726. Continue 2.5 miles and look for the ramp on the right side of the road. The area is non-reservable for day use. Nearby paddlers should note that Johnson Creek Camp and Alley Creek Camp (both reservable) are located within 10 miles if you're planning a multi-day trip. Equipment rentals for kayaks, paddleboards, and paddle boats are available at the marina, and eight cabins plus an RV park with lake views are also offered.
