About This Access Site
Burnsville Lake is a 968-acre impoundment on the Little Kanawha River in central West Virginia, offering excellent access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The Bulltown access area provides a boat ramp conveniently located just before the campground entrance, with a marina nearby for additional services. The lake features three wheelchair-accessible boat ramps throughout the facility, making it a well-developed access point for paddlers of all abilities.

This is an ideal destination for recreational paddling and fishing, with the lake stocked for bass, trout, walleye, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. The Burnsville Lake Shelters facility offers six group picnic areas scattered across the lake—shelters 1-4 near the dam and shelters 5-6 upstream near the Little Kanawha River inflow. Nearby amenities include several campgrounds within 10 miles (Riffle Run and Gerald Freeman Campgrounds are both reservable), making it suitable for multi-day trips. For more information or to make reservations, contact the facility at (304) 853-2371.
