The Buyck boat ramp is located on the west side of the Vermilion River near the Water Pollution Control Center in Buyck, St. Louis County. To find it from Route 6, look for the access point on the west side of the bridge over the Vermilion River, near the Convenient Food Mart. The ramp is open 24 hours and accommodates both trailer launch and carry-in access, with a launch fee of $7 for boats/jet skis or $3 for kayaks and canoes.
This access point provides paddlers and boaters with entry to the Vermilion River system. From here, you can explore the river itself and connect to the Chain of Lakes via a public access on Twomile Creek. The Vermilion River area offers reasonable water clarity (approximately 5.7 feet) and supports boating activity along its length. Multiple marinas operate throughout the Vermilion River system, offering amenities and services for boaters.
Most standard recreational boats (12-18 feet) can be launched at this ramp, making it suitable for a variety of watercraft including kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. Plan accordingly for the $3-7 launch fee depending on your vessel type.
