Cache Bar is the primary take-out point for paddlers and rafters exiting the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in central Idaho. Located in Lemhi County within the Salmon National Forest, this ramp provides vehicle and trailer access for a variety of watercraft. The ramp is approximately 20 feet wide and accommodates everything from small fishing boats to larger recreational vessels. No reservation is required to use this facility.
The Salmon River at this location is a substantial waterway—a major river system with an average flow of approximately 13,100 cubic feet per second and considerable gradient (23.1 ft/mile average). Paddlers should be prepared for moderately swift current and challenging conditions typical of this mountain river. The area offers a scenic backdrop of the Salmon River Mountains, and there is beach access available upstream near Corn Creek on river right, though amenities vary seasonally. This take-out is well-suited for experienced paddlers completing multi-day float trips on the Middle Fork.
