The California State University at Sacramento Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma offers a convenient boat ramp and access site for kayakers, canoeists, and small boat users. The Aquatic Center features two launch ramps that provide continuous boat launching access year-round, as well as a car-top boat launch area. Located across from the Nimbus Flat State Recreation Area, the site offers easy and convenient access for putting in and taking out on the lake.
Lake Natoma is a reservoir on the American River, formed by the Nimbus Dam. It offers relatively calm, flat waters that are well-suited for paddling and small boating activities. The lake stretches for approximately 5 miles, providing ample room to explore the surrounding shoreline and scenery. Boaters and paddlers should be aware of motorized boat traffic, as the lake is also popular with powerboats and personal watercraft.
The Sacramento State Aquatic Center at the launch site provides equipment rentals and instruction for a variety of water sports, making it a convenient starting point for those new to kayaking, canoeing, or other non-motorized boating. Visitors are encouraged to check the Aquatic Center's website or contact them directly for current hours, fees, and rental availability before planning their trip.
