About This Access Site
Canal Lock provides boat and paddling access to the lower Susquehanna River near Middletown in Dauphin County. This site features both upper and lower boat ramps, making it a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boats exploring this section of Pennsylvania's scenic river corridor. The location is part of the 53-mile Susquehanna River Water Trail – Lower Section, a popular paddle route managed by the Susquehanna National Heritage Area.

From this access point, paddlers can explore the Conejohela Flats, an ecologically important shallow-water habitat that attracts numerous shore birds and migratory species throughout the year, making it an excellent destination for wildlife viewing. The dual-ramp setup accommodates various water levels and vessel types, providing flexibility for both launching and landing operations.
