About This Access Site
Located in the North Jefferson City Recreation Area, Carl R. Noren Access offers a well-maintained boat ramp on the Missouri River's left bank at mile marker 144. The facility features a paved ramp, accessible parking lot, and a disabled-accessible privy. The site also provides three primitive camping spots for overnight visitors. The nearby pedestrian bridge and views of the Capitol and surrounding bridges add to the area's appeal.

The Missouri River at this location is a major waterway with substantial flow—averaging over 121,000 cubic feet per second—and current speeds around 7.4 feet per second. Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for the powerful flow and active water conditions typical of this section of the river. The moderate gradient (3.9 ft/mile) and wide channel make this a feasible access point for canoeists and kayakers, though the river's size and current demand appropriate skill and experience. This access point serves as a convenient launch for day trips or longer Missouri River expeditions.
