Cascara Campground is one of the primary access points to Fall Creek Lake, a scenic 1,852-acre reservoir with 22 miles of forested shoreline in the Willamette National Forest. The campground offers a full-service launch facility with a boat ramp (water level permitting), making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and larger motorboats. The site includes 39 campsites, a swimming area, fishing dock, flush restrooms, and drinking water—ideal for multi-day trips or day-use outings.
**Access and Seasonal Availability:** Cascara is open May 1 through September 30. Day-use fees apply, or visitors can park with a valid State Parks permit. The ramp's usability depends on water levels, so conditions may vary seasonally. Two alternative launch points—North Shore Day Use Area and Winberry Day Use Area—also provide high- and low-water ramps if needed.
**What to Expect:** The campground provides good amenities for a base camp, with nearby picnic areas and shore access. Paddlers should be prepared for potential water-level fluctuations typical of reservoir systems and check current conditions before visiting. The surrounding forested landscape offers scenic paddling, though the lake's size makes it suitable for various skill levels depending on weather and wind conditions.
