Celilo Park offers a well-maintained paved boat ramp for accessing Lake Celilo on the Columbia River near The Dalles. Located just east of the city of The Dalles, this facility is part of the recreation area managed around The Dalles Lock and Dam (192 miles upstream from the Columbia's mouth). The park provides convenient amenities including bathrooms, picnic tables, and shaded areas under large trees—making it a comfortable spot for launching kayaks, canoes, and other small craft.
Be aware that Celilo Park can become quite crowded on windy days due to its popularity with windsurfers, who utilize the grassy rigging area. Check wind and water conditions before heading out, and note that the Columbia River in this section is a large, dam-controlled waterway. The site is a day-use facility with no reservations required, making it an accessible option for paddlers exploring the Columbia River Gorge area.
