About This Access Site
Chief Timothy Park offers a developed boat launch and dock facilities on Lower Granite Lake in the Snake River, accessed via a causeway from US 12 (Lewis and Clark Scenic Highway) near Asotin. The site features a paved boat ramp, five docks, and a swimming beach, making it well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The 282-acre island park includes shaded camping areas, day-use facilities, and paved parking, providing good infrastructure for extended visits.

Paddlers will appreciate the calm lake environment and the park's position as a gateway to Hells Canyon Recreation Area, offering scenic exploration opportunities. The site maintains public restrooms (approximately 0.3 miles from the launch area) and is designed to accommodate both day-use and overnight visitors. Be aware that maintenance can be inconsistent, particularly during wet weather when grassy areas may become muddy. The park is popular for kayaking, windsurfing, and fishing, so expect moderate recreational use, especially on weekends.
