About This Access Site
The City Park boat ramp provides easy access to the West Branch of the Elizabeth River in Portsmouth, Virginia. This is a popular launch site for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats looking to explore the calm, tidal waters of the Elizabeth River.

The boat ramp is located just off Cpl J M Williams Avenue, with ample free parking available for boat trailers. The ramp itself is ADA-compliant, making it accessible for a wide range of users. While there are no fishing or crabbing activities permitted from the dock, the nearby fishing pier offers opportunities to cast a line.

The Elizabeth River is a tidal estuary that flows for approximately 60 miles through the Hampton Roads region. The West Branch section near the City Park ramp is relatively wide and slow-moving, making it well-suited for paddling and small boating.
