About This Access Site
Clear Cove Park offers a convenient public boat ramp on Lake Lyndon B. Johnson's Llano River arm, located in a protected cove setting near Granite Shoals. The site features a single-lane concrete ramp with docking facilities and parking for 20-30 boats and trailers, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and larger motorboats. To reach the ramp, take Highway 2147 between Horseshoe Bay and Cottonwood Shores, turning onto Wirtz Dam Road at the Bay Marine and LBJ Marina signs, then turn left into the Sail & Ski parking lot where the LCRA ramp is located between nearby commercial facilities.

Lake Lyndon B. Johnson is a constant-level reservoir, making it an ideal paddling destination with predictable water conditions year-round. The protected cove location at Clear Cove Park provides calmer water compared to the main lake basin, though paddlers should be aware of motorboat traffic, particularly during weekends and peak season. This access point is well-positioned for exploring the Llano River arm of the lake and is conveniently located just a few miles from Highway 281.
