About This Access Site
Clear Lake, located in Wise County within the LBJ Grasslands, offers a primitive boat ramp suitable for small watercraft and paddlers. The approximately 20-acre lake provides a modest paddling destination with a fully accessible 50-foot T-shaped fishing pier on-site. Water depth at the pier extends to 20+ feet, giving paddlers a sense of the lake's depth profile. This is an excellent option for kayakers and canoeists seeking a small, manageable water body.

The access site operates on a first-come, first-served basis with primitive facilities. Visitors should arrive prepared, as amenities are basic and limited. The area includes picnic facilities and 15 nearby camp units if you're planning an extended visit. Remember to clean, drain, and dry your boat before and after use to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species.

Access is via Wise County roads from the Decatur area. Given the primitive nature of the ramp and modest lake size, this site works best for small boats, kayaks, and canoes rather than larger vessels. Anglers and paddlers alike benefit from the quiet, grasslands setting.
