Clitherall Lake

Clitherall Lake is a substantial 2,540-acre lake in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, offering good access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The public boat launch is located on the south side of the lake and provides a reliable entry point for water recreation. With a maximum depth of 69 feet, the lake has enough depth to accommodate various watercraft and offers diverse paddling opportunities across its expansive surface.

Note that according to the Minnesota DNR, there are two public access points on Clitherall Lake—this main launch on the south shore and an additional earthen access point elsewhere on the lake. Paddlers should plan accordingly based on their preferred launch location and current conditions, particularly if using the earthen access which may be more weather-dependent. The lake's size makes it suitable for both day trips and longer paddling expeditions.
