Located on the northern end of Toledo Bend Reservoir in Shelby County, this access point provides year-round entry to one of Texas's largest impoundments. The facility includes a boat ramp and parking area, with primitive tent camping available. Paddlers and boaters should note that Phase 2 improvements were scheduled for completion in summer 2024, so current amenities may be expanding.
Toledo Bend Reservoir sits on the Sabine River, a major waterway with an average flow of over 9,100 cubic feet per second. As a large reservoir rather than flowing river section, expect calm to moderate water conditions ideal for kayakers and canoeists. The surrounding area offers access to approximately 520 miles of the Sabine River system, with the reservoir providing a scenic paddling destination for various skill levels. This northern location makes it convenient for exploring the upper reservoir and connecting waterways in East Texas.
