Coffeen Lake is a 1,102-acre reservoir located seven miles southeast of Hillsboro in Montgomery County, Illinois. This access site offers two concrete boat ramps: one at the far north end of the lake and the main ramp near the site office. The lake is well-suited for kayaking, canoeing, and motorized boating, with 48 miles of shoreline providing plenty of exploration opportunities.
**Important Motor Regulations:** The lake enforces a 25 horsepower outboard motor limit for normal operation. Larger motors (over 25 hp) are restricted to trolling speed only, and may only be used at full power for loading and unloading trailered watercraft at no-wake speed within 150 feet of the ramp. This makes it an ideal destination for paddlers seeking a quieter, less congested boating experience.
**Facilities & Nearby Services:** There is no concession stand at the access site itself, but gear and supplies can be purchased at a private business just west of the site office. The lake supports a healthy fishery with 22 species present, making it popular with anglers targeting largemouth bass, channel catfish, striped bass, and white crappie. This is a day-use facility offering public access for fishing and recreation.
