About This Access Site
The Commodore Drive - 1 boat ramp provides convenient access to the Chattahoochee River and the expansive Lake Lanier in Hall County, Georgia. This launch site is part of the larger Buford Dam Park area, which is a popular recreation destination along the lake.

For paddlers, the Chattahoochee River in this section is generally wide and slow-moving, making it well-suited for kayaks and canoes. Further downstream, the river picks up in flow and gradient, so this launch is best suited for calmer, flatwater paddling. Lake Lanier itself offers countless coves, islands, and shoreline to explore by non-motorized boat.

Boaters will find a well-maintained concrete ramp, with ample parking and access to the water. As one of the busier public launch sites on the lake, be prepared to share the space, especially on peak weekends and holidays. Refer to the Army Corps of Engineers' resources for the latest information on facilities, fees, and regulations at this location.
