Comstock Lake

**Upper Comstock Lake** is a 267-acre lake in St. Louis County, Minnesota, offering public boat access via a DNR-administered launch near Cotton. The lake has a maximum depth of 28 feet, making it suitable for recreational boating, fishing, and paddling. The launch can accommodate 12-18 foot boats, with some ramps handling larger vessels. There are no launch fees unless the access is located within a park requiring a vehicle permit.

**Access and Connected Waters:** This launch provides convenient access to Upper Comstock Lake and also serves as the gateway to Lower Comstock Lake, a 160-acre lake located about 6 miles south. Paddlers can navigate between the two lakes via the connecting channel. The area is within the Cloquet Valley State Forest, offering a scenic paddling experience in northeastern Minnesota.
