About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Confederate Campground is located on Canyon Ferry Reservoir near Winston, Montana (about 50 miles downstream from where the Gallatin, Madison, and Jefferson Rivers converge). The campground sits on the scenic 33,500-acre reservoir with 96 miles of shoreline. Rather than a formal boat ramp, boats are launched directly from the rocky beach area, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and smaller watercraft.

**Facilities & Recreation:** This is a rustic, dispersed camping area managed by the Bureau of Reclamation with vault toilets but no drinking water or trash service. The 14-day stay limit makes it ideal for extended trips. Canyon Ferry Reservoir is well-known for excellent fishing (rainbow trout, perch, ling, and walleye), and the reservoir offers ample paddling opportunities across its vast expanse. More developed facilities with concrete ramps and day-use areas are available at nearby locations like Hellgate Boat Ramp and White Earth Campground if you prefer additional amenities.

**What to Bring:** Come fully prepared with water, supplies, and gear—this is a minimal-service location. The rocky beach launch works well for self-propelled watercraft but may require more effort than traditional ramps for larger boats.
