About This Access Site
This boat ramp provides access to the Connecticut River, a major river system spanning 409 miles with a significant average flow of approximately 22,800 cubic feet per second. The Northfield location offers paddlers and boaters entry to a substantial waterway with noticeable current (average velocity of 5.1 feet/second), making it suitable for experienced kayakers and canoeists comfortable with moving water conditions. The river's considerable size and flow make it an excellent option for various small craft, from kayaks and canoes to motorized vessels.

The access point is located in Franklin County near Northfield (coordinates: 42.716, -72.452). Be aware that seasonal closures may occur from mid-November through mid-May, and temporary closures can happen during periods of high water flow. A parking area is available at the facility. The surrounding region offers additional recreation opportunities, including nearby Tully Lake, a 1,300-acre reservoir ideal for calmer-water paddling if you prefer an alternative to the river's current.
