The Connecticut River is a major waterway, flowing for over 400 miles through New England. At the Salmon River access, the river is classified as a large, headwater stream with an average flow of over 22,800 cubic feet per second and a gentle 6.5 foot per mile gradient. These conditions make the Connecticut River well-suited for kayaking, canoeing, and small motorized boating.
