About This Access Site
The Coolville Ramp is an ODNR-managed public boat launch located on the Hocking River immediately upstream of the US Route 50 bridge in Coolville, Athens County. This access point serves as a convenient staging area for paddlers and boaters exploring the Hocking River system. The ramp is basic in design with no facilities (toilets or amenities on-site), so plan accordingly. A gas station and restaurant are located approximately 1.5 miles up the road for supplies.

This launch provides good access to the Hocking River, a scenic waterway popular with kayakers and canoeists. From this point, paddlers can explore upstream reaches of the river or launch downstream excursions. The proximity to the US Route 50 bridge makes it easy to locate. Given the minimal facilities, nearby Guysville offers alternative camping and lodging options for multi-day trips. Check current ODNR regulations and river conditions before your visit, as water levels can affect launch conditions.
