Gull's Bluff offers one of the primary access points to Jim Chapman Lake (South Sulphur River impoundment) with a substantial six-lane concrete boat ramp capable of handling multiple boats simultaneously. The facility can accommodate up to 90 vehicles and is operated by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. This day-use area is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to launch onto the reservoir. Amenities include boat docks, fishing piers, and fish cleaning stations on-site.
**Access & Directions:** From Texas Highway 154/19 near Tira in Hopkins County, turn west onto FM 71 at Birthright. Continue 4 miles to FM 3505 and turn north to reach the park entrance. The ramp is well-marked within the Gull's Bluff Day Use Area. Note that water levels can fluctuate seasonally—check current conditions before visiting, as this may affect launch ease.
For more information or to confirm current conditions, contact Texas Parks & Wildlife Department at (903) 945-5256. The facility provides ample parking and is suitable for a full day of paddling or boating on the lake.
