About This Access Site
The Honey Creek Day Use Area at Cooper Lake State Park offers a **two-lane concrete boat ramp** providing access to Jim Chapman Lake on the South Sulphur River. This is one of two public ramps at the South Sulphur Unit (the other being the six-lane Gulls Bluff ramp nearby). The facility includes boat docks, fishing piers, and fish cleaning stations, making it convenient for both day-use boaters and anglers. The area also features a swimming beach, playground, and picnic facilities with pavilions and screened shelters.

**Access & Directions:** From Texas Highway 154/19, turn west at Birthright onto FM 71. Continue 4 miles to FM 3505 and turn north to the park entrance. The ramp is operated by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department; for questions or updates, call (903) 945-5256.

**Note for Paddlers & Boaters:** Jim Chapman Lake is a large impoundment on the South Sulphur River, offering calm water suitable for kayaking and canoeing. No fishing license is required to fish from shore in state parks. Check current lake conditions and any seasonal closures before your visit, as infrastructure improvements may occasionally affect weekday access.
