The Cornell boat ramp provides public access to Cornell Flowage, an 897-acre lake in Chippewa County. This access point is a convenient launching spot for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to explore the flowage and connect to the Chippewa River system. The lake reaches a maximum depth of 55.7 feet and supports a healthy population of gamefish including musky, walleye, pike, bass, and panfish, making it popular with anglers as well as paddlers.
This is one of six public access sites available on Cornell Flowage, operated by the Wisconsin DNR, the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe, and local municipalities. While the larger CC South landing offers the most amenities, the Cornell site provides a functional boat ramp for launching watercraft. Before visiting, contact the Chippewa County Parks Department or check the Wisconsin DNR website for current conditions, parking details, and any facility amenities. The flowage offers scenic paddling opportunities and serves as an excellent gateway to the broader Chippewa River watershed.
