About This Access Site
Located in Marion Station near the town of Dames Quarter in Somerset County, Maryland, the Coulbourn Creek boat ramp provides convenient access to Coulbourn Creek and the Big Annemessex River system in the lower Eastern Shore. This free public launch is managed by Somerset County Roads Department and features a parking area and portable restrooms. The ramp is situated at the confluence of these two waterways, making it an ideal starting point for exploring the local Chesapeake Bay tributary system.

To reach the ramp, take Messick Road south from its intersection with Deal Island Road in Dames Quarter for approximately three-quarters of a mile. The site serves kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats looking to paddle or cruise the shallow tidal creeks and marshlands characteristic of this Atlantic Coastal Plain area. The calm breezes off the bay and nearby Glenn Martin National Wildlife Refuge (4,548 acres) make this a popular spot for both paddling and wildlife observation. This is a straightforward, no-frills access point ideal for those seeking peaceful exploration of Maryland's lower Eastern Shore waterways.
