Located at the northern end of Conchas Lake near Conchas, New Mexico, this boat ramp provides access to one of the state's largest water bodies. The ramp is situated in the Cove Recreation Area, which you'll reach by following the county road north from NM 104, past Conchas Dam and the Army Corps of Engineers office complex. The facility offers convenient launching for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to explore the lake's multiple arms and scenic canyon shorelines.
From this ramp, paddlers can access approximately 11 miles of the Conchas River arm or 14 miles of the South Canadian River arm, each offering different paddling experiences through canyons and along sandy beaches. The widest section of the lake (about 2.5 miles) is located on the Conchas River Arm approximately 4 miles west of the dam. The area features a marina with supplies, additional boat ramps on both sides of the lake, and extensive primitive camping options along the shoreline, making it suitable for multi-day paddling trips. The recreation area is part of Conchas Lake State Park, which also provides opportunities for hiking and birding along the extensive shoreline.
