About This Access Site
The Cowdry Lake public boat ramp, located at 856 E Lake Cowdry Road on the east side of the lake, provides convenient access to this 243-acre Douglas County water body. The ramp is approximately 20 feet wide and suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. With a maximum depth of 52 feet, Cowdry Lake offers good fishing and recreational boating opportunities for all skill levels.

Paddlers should be aware that Cowdry Lake connects to several other lakes in the chain, including Lake Darling and Lake Taylor. However, the channel connecting to Darling Lake has a submerged cement barrier under a bridge that restricts passage to smaller watercraft only—larger boats and PWCs can navigate it, but kayaks and canoes will have more success. Slow/no-wake speed zones are enforced in marked areas throughout the chain. The lake's relatively shallow channels and connected waterway system make it ideal for paddlers seeking a scenic multi-lake tour in the Alexandria area.
