The Crab Creek boat ramp provides access to Lower Crab Creek and Potholes Reservoir, a popular destination for paddlers and boaters in central Washington. Located near Moses Lake in Grant County, this primitive launch is situated within the Potholes Reservoir Unit, which offers multiple amenities including parking areas, outhouses, and several other boat ramps throughout the area. The reservoir is part of the Columbia Basin Project, formed by O'Sullivan Dam and characterized by numerous glacial depressions.
**Important note for paddlers:** Water levels at Potholes Reservoir fluctuate significantly due to irrigation demands, and this access point may become inaccessible during low water periods—typically summer and fall months. Check current water conditions before planning your trip. The area is also popular for waterfowl and upland bird hunting, so plan accordingly during hunting seasons. The surrounding Desert Wildlife Recreation Area includes additional water features like Winchester Reservoir and various marshes and ponds, offering extended exploration opportunities.
**Directions:** From Moses Lake, head south on SR 17 for 2 miles, then turn right onto Road M SE. Continue south for 6.4 miles and turn right onto SR 262. After 2.3 miles, turn left at the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge sign onto Soda Lake Road.
