Crawford State Park offers a convenient boat ramp for kayakers, canoeists, and other boaters to access Muddy Creek and the Crawford Reservoir. The east boat ramp is located on the eastern side of the peninsula, just past the visitor center. This ramp provides direct access to the main body of the reservoir.
The reservoir itself is a popular destination for water sports, with ample space for both motorized and non-motorized boating. Paddlers can explore the scenic shoreline and take in views of the surrounding Gunnison Gorge Wilderness. The reservoir is fed by Muddy Creek, which originates in the nearby Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Boaters should be prepared for variable water levels and potentially gusty winds on the open water.
For those looking to extend their visit, the nearby Iron Creek Campground offers 45 campsites with electric and water hookups, as well as restrooms with hot showers. The campground is situated adjacent to the boat ramp, making it a convenient option for those launching from the Crawford State Park access point.
