Crawford State Park

Crawford State Park offers a convenient boat ramp access point to Muddy Creek and the Crawford Reservoir. This 388-acre reservoir provides ample opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and motorized boating. The east boat ramp is located on the east side of the lake, past the visitor center. This is the primary access point for launching smaller, hand-carried watercraft like kayaks and canoes.

The reservoir's calm, flat waters make it well-suited for recreational paddling, while the surrounding landscapes of the Gunnison Gorge Wilderness offer a scenic backdrop. Boaters should be aware of potential wind conditions, as the open reservoir can produce choppy waves. Two campgrounds within 10 miles, Black Canyon of the Gunnison South Rim and North Rim, provide convenient overnight options for those looking to extend their time on the water. The park also offers access to the Chukar Trail, the primary boating entry point to the Gunnison Gorge Wilderness.
