About This Access Site
The Sandy Creek Public Boat Ramp near Pinkston Reservoir offers a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. This two-lane ramp accommodates all boat types and includes amenities such as restrooms, handicap-accessible facilities, and parking. A user fee is required. Note that the ramp may be unusable during low water conditions, so checking water levels before your trip is recommended. From Huntsville, take US 190 toward Livingston and look for the ramp on the right side before the bridge; from Livingston, take US 190 west, turn left on FM 3126, then take the first right and continue 1.8 miles to the marina.

Primitive camping is permitted near the boat ramp area, making this a practical base for multi-day paddling trips on Sandy Creek and the reservoir. The access point provides good launching conditions for exploring the reservoir and creek system, though paddlers should be aware of potential water level fluctuations that may affect launch difficulty.
