About This Access Site
The East Ramp at Harding Cabin provides one of two primary boat launch points on Deer Creek Lake, a 1,277-acre reservoir located 35 miles southwest of Columbus near Mount Sterling, Ohio. This access point is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters looking to launch on the lake. The facility is located at 9 Longberry-Deercreek Road, accessible by taking Highway 62 south to Mt. Sterling, then Route 207 south for 8 miles. Deer Creek Lake offers excellent recreational opportunities with unlimited horsepower boating permitted. The lake is popular for fishing (bluegill and white bass), swimming, and water sports, with calm, expansive water ideal for paddling. Life jackets are required for all persons on vessels, including kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. An alternative west ramp at the Deer Creek State Park Marina is also available and offers a fully equipped facility with fuel, boat rentals, and seasonal dock rentals if you need additional services.

Fishing is a very popular activity. Bluegill, white crappie, channel catfish, saugeye, white, largemouth, smallmouth and rock bass, carp, bullhead and flathead catfish are the major sport species found in the lake.Facilities
Deer Creek offers two group day-use picnic shelters located below the dam, 40 yards from a creek popular for fishing. Both are accessible and can accommodate up to 100 guests each.Natural Features
Deer Creek Lake is situated among gently rolling hills in south central Ohio. The area is forested with a variety of hardwoods, including oak, hickory, elm, black walnut, ash, maple and sycamore.

An abundance of wildlife inhabits the area around the lake, including ring-necked pheasant, cottontail rabbit, squirrel, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, raccoon, mink, red fox, skunk, coyote and beaver. Red-tailed hawks, Northern harriers and American kestrels are also common sights.
