Deerwood

The Deerwood boat ramp provides vehicle and boat access to Richland Creek arm of Richland Chambers Reservoir near Streetman in Freestone County. Located off FM 2859 (accessible via FM 1393 west of Kerens on TX 309), this site offers parking for approximately 30 vehicles and a boat ramp suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. The site includes restroom facilities and bank fishing access, with no launch fee required.

Paddlers should note that hydrilla aquatic vegetation is scattered throughout the Richland Creek arm, particularly along the south bank from Midway Marina westward to the railroad trestle. The reservoir setting means relatively calm, sheltered water compared to flowing creek conditions, making it suitable for paddlers of varying skill levels. Given the presence of both motorboat traffic and fishing activity in this area, paddlers should exercise appropriate caution and visibility practices while on the water.
