Devil's Elbow Corps is a public boat ramp providing access to Lake Barkley on the Cumberland River near Cadiz in Trigg County. This is a well-established access point suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to explore the lake. The ramp offers convenient launching for paddlers interested in exploring the scenic waters of Lake Barkley, which offers relatively calm, reservoir-style paddling conditions.
The area has several points of interest for paddlers. Nearby, you'll find a historic old rock quarry accessible by water just south of the ramp, creating an interesting paddling destination. Wildlife viewing is excellent in the area—watch for osprey, peregrine falcons, and cliff swallows around the bridge structure, particularly in winter. During spring and fall migrations (especially October), large flocks of pelicans gather on nearby sandbars. Note that small islands across the lake host heron rookeries and are restricted from landing to protect nesting birds.
Before launching, confirm current conditions and any facility amenities by contacting Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, as this is a Corps of Engineers managed site.
