Dog Lake Campground offers a small but functional boat ramp for paddlers and boaters seeking access to this scenic high-elevation lake in Yakima County. Located on the southern shore at 4,207 feet elevation, the campground is situated 36.6 miles west of Naches on Highway 12. The ramp provides easy lake access, making it convenient for launching kayaks, canoes, and rafts.
This compact U.S. Forest Service facility is best suited for non-motorized and small recreational boats. Dog Lake is ideal for paddling, fishing, and swimming, though paddlers should be aware that the lake is small and the water remains quite cold year-round. The elevation means the lake may be snow or ice-covered for much of the year, but it remains open for fishing and paddling throughout the season. The campground itself features level sites and basic amenities (pit toilet, no running water), though sites are tightly spaced and privacy is limited. Note that large RVs may have difficulty maneuvering on interior roads. Visitors should pack out all trash, as there is no dumpster on-site.
